I’m Don, a photographer based in Seoul, South Korea. I love high-contrast, black & white street/documentary-style photography. I often explore the city capturing the beauty of life all around me. This work brings me great joy!
It’s my latest mission to share what I’ve learned from 8 years of photography. I hope to motivate and inspire those who have a passion for photography and capturing life in the world around them. I’m working hard to share insights, and give advice, to help you learn & improve in your journey to being a photographer! 🥰
In today’s journal, I will share with you some more photographs from my adventures in May 2016. At that time, one of my most frequently visited places in Seoul for street photography was Hongdae, aka Hongik University. This area is very lively until late at night with lots of young people out and about meeting friends, eating, drinking, and more.
It’s an excellent place for street photography. But it’s especially interesting during the evening. I would often finish work and venture to Hongdae to take photographs. Sometimes I would stay only a few hours, sometimes I would stay quite late catching the last buses back home.
Today’s images are from one single night of taking photographs in Hongdae. I’m happy to share that with you. If you have any thoughts, or questions about street photography here in Seoul, or the images, I hope you’ll let me know in the comments. I’ll be able to share some more details to help you out in any way.
There are a total of 13 photographs to share with you from that day.
I'm continuing to share my photography journey with over 120+ of my earliest images with my first DSLR camera, from back in September 2014.
Feel free to check them out in my newest article on The Photo Memoirs website! 😊
Here are a few of the images!
Here are three photographs taken at a stream in Seoul. It is one of the many streams that lead to the Han River, and many people take some leisure time walking or riding their bikes down these paths. I photographed with a slightly slower shutter speed in the middle of a bright sunny day with the help of an ND filter. I discuss the three photos in my latest video. It's a VLOG/Podcast style. The 3 photos make up part of my Seoul in Motion Photography project.
